Complete gut renovation of conventional Chicago commercial three flat built in1914. The design challenge faced by Tom Marquardt and the design team for the third floor living space, was to maintain the sense of procession, proportion, and verticality of the original space with minimal intervention, while transforming the flat into an open, modern, simple, and energy efficient home. The solution is sophisticated, yet cost effective living that respects the building’s original intent.
