3D Printed Stool Prototype

Tom of marquardt+ and Katie and Trevis of Inch + Mile, partnered with the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) for a design exploration of 3D Technologies as applied to a furniture piece as part of The future of Design and the role new technologies.
We created a custom furniture prototype utilizing 3D-printing for a component of the piece that could not have been made thru other standard manufacturing techniques. The result was the pivot top stool prototype with a single build flexible mesh pad and lacquer painted steel base. The lacquered plank handle and pivot mount slip thru the mesh and can be simply changed with one bolt!
